| Marc Aurel Schnabel is an Architect and Associate Professor at the School of Architecture, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is leading research and education in the field of digital media in architectural and urban design. As Past President of CAADRIA, the interna-tional Association for Computer Aided Architectural Design Research in Asia, and founding member of buildingSMART HK, he is affiliated with various professional bodies and sci-entific committees. Since March 2013 he is the Chair of the Industry Advisory Board of Autodesk. He taught and worked in Germany, Australia and Hong Kong for over twenty years and since then has become highly recognised for his work in the areas of computa-tional design and learning environments. He is engaged in research of augmented- and virtual reality, parametric design learning and inter-professional development programmes. He publishes extensively in internationally about novel perspectives in digital architecture and urban design. He curated two digital architectural exhibitions, Disparallel Spaces at Tin Sheds- and 8448cubed at Gaffa Galleries, in 2008 and chaired several international conferences, among them the 15th International CAADRIA Conference ‘New Frontiers’ in 2010, the 47th Conference of the Architectural Science Association in November 2013, and the SmartGeometry Conference 2014. He has established the Digital Architecture Research Alliance, DARA, as well as the online social network Urban Digitalics connecting professionals and researchers in innovative digital spatial design. |
